Founded in 1970 by a group of musicians who had become acquainted with one another while performing alongside jazz great Miles Davis, jazz "supergroup" Weather Report created some of the most exciting jazz fusion of the 1970s and 80s. In this release of a performance staged at the 1976 Montreux Music Festival and filmed shortly after the release of their album Black Market, the line-up that would remain together for the follow year's highly successful Heavy Weather album performs a ten-song set featuring "Cannon Ball", "Black Market", "Scarlet Woman", and more. Widely circulated as a bootleg over the years, this landmark performance features Jaco Pastorious on bass, Alex Acuma on drums, Joe Zawinul on keyboards, Manolo Badrena on percussion, and Wayne Shorter on saxophones.
